Head's up that this workshop is coming soon. Please forward and inform the heavy hitters, movers and shakers in your region of the state, so they can partake. We absolutley must get a statewide quorum to start defending our riding areas, so don't drop the ball on this.

The, Oregon Motorcycle Riders Association, www.atv-ride.com, Pacific Northwest 4-Wheel Drive Association, Snowmobile Alliance of Western States, American Motorcyclist Association and the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council will conduct a NOHVCC Organizational Workshop on Saturday, August 4 and an AMA “Ride Into Political Action” Seminar on Sunday, August 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day at the Portland General Electric Facility in Salem.

The purpose of the workshop and seminar is to bring together Oregon motorized recreation interests including off-highway motorcycle, ATV, four-wheel drive and snowmobile enthusiasts and associated businesses to establish:

• The foundation for a statewide motorized recreation association;
• A communication system to gather and disperse information;
• A program to motivate active public involvement in protecting and expanding motorized recreation opportunities; and
• Enable the motorized recreation community to influence the political process.

A registration fee of $15.00 (single day) or $25.00 (two days) will be charged to cover materials, lunches and beverage service throughout the weekend. Advance registration is required. The registration deadline is July 27. There will be no on-site registration.

NOTE!

Due to minimal registrations of Sunday's RIPA class, it will be cancelled, as it is too expensive to fly AMA's Terry Cook out with single-digit registrants. Saturday's class is still on though at present.

You can't cancel Saturday you just can't. I used it to get out of going to a wedding and its to late to find another excuse. Besides its important..... Very Happy

The SUNDAY, August 5 AMA "Ride Into Political Action" Seminar is CANCELED due to the low number of registrations. We will try to reschedule an Oregon "RIPA" Seminar in the future.

To assist you in planning and packing for the SATURDAY workshop please consider the following:

- Workshop attire is casual

- Beverages, lunch and snacks will be provided on-site and are covered by the workshop registration fee

- NOHVCC workshops operate on time. Please plan to arrive by 8:00 a.m. to check-in, help yourself to coffee and juice and get settled. The workshop will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.

- Notebooks will be provided to all registered participants

- Please bring a 2008 calendar and a list of all major OHV events scheduled for 2008 that you are aware of

- Please be prepared to help build a directory of Oregon OHV/OSV organizations and clubs (and their websites)

Our goal is to make this workshop interesting, productive and even a little bit fun!

Jack and I are flying in to Portland on Friday and expect to arrive down in Salem by 4:00 p.m. If you will be in Salem on Friday afternoon and would like to join Jack and I for dinner please give one of us a call. I feel this meeting went very well and props to those who attended! We have some challenges ahead, but with the comaraderie of the various OHV groups, it is not insurmountable. Updates can be had over on the ORC Message Board right here:
