Greetings,
I'm planning on an OMRA Trail Party the Saturday after Thanksgiving on the Hood River Trail System. What better way to work off all that tonnage you ate on Turkey Day? Per the OMRA ATV Grant, all hours of volunteer time will go to the OMRA grant obligation. I would really like to get a large group of people to show up and give back to our sport! (FYI, the upcoming OMRA Trail Maintenance Series will alternate between Hood River and Tillamook Forest) We will focus on the single-track trails.

I plan on doing trail maintenance most of the day, then some fun trailriding at the end. Please bring trail tools (shovels, grub hoes, picks, etc.) along with good gloves and eye protection. I also suggest you wear outdoor clothing like good boots, etc.

Project Description:
The project will require walking and working on steep uneven terrain and hiking on and off-trail to access the work party site.

Trail Maintenance Work will include:
Brushing
Cleaning trail drainage structures
Spot rocking
Removing debris from trail
Garbage pick-up

What to Bring:
Bring your own trail tools if you prefer. Other items needed for work are:
· Loppers, pole saws, pruning tools, machetes
· Shovels, rock bars, hoes, Pulaskis
· Gloves
· Lunch / Water

Date:
9am, Saturday, 11/29/08 (changed to the Saturday after Thanksgiving, from Friday, due to the weather forecast).

Location:
Hood River, Post Canyon trail area. We will probably walk to the maintenance areas, but you may want to bring your bike to be sure. Exact details are in the post below.
The parking area is at GPS coordinates:
N 45 39.898
W 121 38.229

Appropriate clothing for the work includes boots or sturdy shoes, long pants (no shorts), and gloves.

Any questions? Call me at home: 503.681.8881
Thanks!
-Tom

Good question. We are focusing on single track maintenance, but I believe there is also quad trails available in the area.

Rick: can you confirm or not?

Yes. there are a lot of Quad trails. We have trail maps that show all the Quad and single track trails.

FYI, we will be breaking in the new OMRA Rokon at this Saturday's trail maintenance gig, which was purchased through our State ATV Grant Program specifically for single-track trail maintenance. Think of it as a two-wheel-drive tractor! There is also a single-wheel, narrow trailer that can be towed behind it, which we plan on using for hauling some z-brick to various spots on the trails.

Here is a map to get to the parking area where we will all meet. The textual description begins at Exit 62 off of I84.

NOTE: For those that contact me ahead of time, let me know your t-shirt size and I'll bring you a Black Dog National Dualsport t-shirt donated from NW Tour & Trail!

Hey Guys, thanks for joining the fun! Heck yeah, bring your quads! We're all in this together. Smile

Tomm: since I'm bringing the Rokon, 'Clifford' (it's big, it's red and it's a dawg!) and it's tow trailer, I won't be bringing my dirty bike, so you'd be out for a ride by yourself. Call my home number and let me know if you still want to bring your KDX or not. If so, I'll need to hook up my trailer, which is not a problem.

Fly Dude: I think I'm detailed enough on everything, so see you and your bud out there! Call me if you have any questions!

PS: I took Clifford out today for its break-in ride on Jordan Creek doing trail recon for ODF and trail clearing of windfalls. That thing is crazy fun!
