Trail Crew Update: Trail 180 Reroute and Ditch Creek Bridge Project
In 2016, the Hosta Timber Sale eliminated a section of Trail 180, located approximately one mile south of the Binns Hill Staging Area. Trail 180 is a heavily used connector, linking Binns Hill with the Kingsley Woods trail system and the Kingsley Reservoir Staging Area, making restoration of this route a priority for riders and land managers alike.
Following the timber sale, a new trail route was flagged, and staff from the Oregon Department of Forestry OHV program, along with dedicated volunteers, worked to rough in the reroute. This effort helps restore a critical connection within the Tillamook trail system and ensures continued access between key riding areas.
As part of the same project, the Ditch Creek bridge on Trail 180 was identified as being in poor condition. Construction is now underway on a new replacement bridge, designed to improve safety and longevity for trail users.
This project was made possible through partnership and shared commitment:
OMRA donated the metal required for the bridge construction
Forestry donated cedar logs, providing essential materials for the structure
The Trail 180 Ditch Creek bridge project is a strong example of what can be accomplished when riders, volunteers, and land managers work together to protect and improve trail infrastructure.
OMRA is proud to support projects like this that restore access, improve safety, and invest directly back into the trail systems our community relies on.
